The artist has given the entirety of his £25,000 honor cash to the MVT, which operates to save the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

He was presented with the award on 16 October as his new release his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.

He has opted to give the cash to the trust, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues had in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the performances I did around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," stated Sam Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist 38 small stages across the UK.

The money helped venues that were dealing with potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues were granted funding support in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that helped performers and audiences.

"The concept that money from concerts in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it begins for performers like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has stated.

The musician is far from the only musician to contribute his award winnings to good deeds.

When Pulp won the prize in 1996 for their release the album, lead singer Cocker stated that the group would contribute their prize money to the organization the charity.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite split her bounty among multiple charities, including the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I contributed a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," the artist explained to a publication.

Previously, the band donated their prize money to the local youth club that developed their band, alongside other independent music bodies.

Additionally the 1994 recipients they gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.

"Receiving the award was ample," said vocalist the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted the lives of others."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust shared it had saved several local spots in the South East, by placing them under community ownership.

One venue in that area and the second in the city were bought under the community ownership scheme, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
