From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
